# Generations Explained

> What counts as a generation, and how the shared pool works.

Your plan gives you a set number of generations each month. Understanding what counts as one helps you get the most from your plan.

## What counts as one generation

* **One article personalization = one generation.** Personalizing a single PLR article or draft uses one generation.
* **One social post request = one generation.** A social post request uses one generation no matter how many platforms it covers. Generating posts for all six platforms at once still counts as one.

  Because a full six-platform social set is a single generation, generating your article and its matching social posts together is an efficient way to use your pool.

## The pool is shared

Articles and social posts draw from the same monthly pool. There is no separate allowance for each. You decide how to split your generations between long-form personalization and social content.

## When the pool resets
